Postpartum planning takes time, effort and resources. But that doesn't mean that you can't experience a deeply supported, healing postpartum that works for you using the resources you have even when those resources aren't heaps and heaps of money.

I have been in the Mothercare sphere for over a decade now, and I am delighted that the culture around postpartum recovery, Mothercare and care work is changing, and investing the big bucks isn't the only way to prioritise care. While it is important to me that we keep spreading the message that postpartum care is invaluable, I think we got a bit lost along the way. This class is designed to orient ourselves back to what really matters, without the frills or fuss.

I want to highlight resources and ways of doing things that you might not have considered so that you can enjoy a bougee postpartum on a budget.
But you are going to need to cultivate commnunity, ask for help and get creative.

What I'll COVER:
-
What you and your baby actually need to thrive in postpartum. Hint.Your baby really just needs you, and the things you really need don't need to be shiny or new.
-
Borrowing, repurposing, trading. Marketplace and local facebook groups are your friend.
-
Advice for cultivating community, asking for help and setting up a meal train.
-
Affordable meal prep ideas for optimal postpartum nutrition.
-
Highlighting the household items that you already have on hand for a bougee postpartum.
-
Creative ways to access body work without spending a fortune.
-
Community services, food banks and mental health supports.
-
Heaps more.

WHO IS VEGGIE DADDY?
Rafferty Hallows is a full spectrum doulas and peer support worker with lived experience of complex needs through motherhood.
Rafferty Hallows is a bleeding heart sapphic doula, weirdo, and Mother of gremlins. They are a writer, creator, meaning maker, community weaver & facilitator.
Raff is queer and brings a contempory angle to Mothercare, always seeking to create models of care that extend beyond the binary.

Rafferty has been working in the Mothersphere for a decade, and when they’re not soap boxing about motherhood, mental health, matrescence, patriarchy, creativity, community and connection they can be found thrifting, fooling around, exploring by the water, dancing or reading.

They know what it is like to be broke and struggling, they have lived experience of homelessness and financial and housing insecurity and have also found ways to create a rich supported life around that.
